    WHY THE HECK are there guys hanging off the masts?????? Are they there ON PURPOSE?? That’s just crazy…

      They are up there on purpose. They need to work the sails no matter the weather. In rough weather they sometimes need to reduce the area of their sails and back then it involved climbing up the masts.
